A graduate of Appalachian State University, and Winston-Salem State University with degrees in History, Philosophy & Religion, Finance, and Economics, John has been, and remains, a student of the world and the people that populate it. After teaching school and doing financial planning for the North Carolina community, John attended law school at North Carolina Central University, with the intention of becoming a legal professional positioned to help his creatives and entrepreneurs navigate legal issues, and more importantly, to build a better future for their families.
While attending law school John engaged in public service as he interned with the Wake County North Carolina District Attorney’s office, and on Capitol Hill for Congresswoman Alma Adams for North Carolina’s 12th congressional district..
In practice, John has worked with and advised businesses in contract negotiation, a wide range of compliance issues, and financial planning and analysis (FP&A). Once involved with businesses JOhn absorbs a number of legal issues from the individual members of the business. For individuals John has drafted Wills & Trusts and handled probate administration matters for testate and intestate descendants, defended clients in criminal matters ranging from drug possession to aggravated assault, negotiated consent orders for child custody, equitable distribution for prospective divorcees, and advised businesses from conception to IPO. John spends most of his professional practice hours assisting private business clients engage in creative means of expansion and partnership.
By leveraging the virtual landscape, John is dedicated to being a “Fractional General Counsel” offering “right sized” general counsel services to businesses that don’t have a dedicated legal team or cannot afford to have an attorney on staff. And with his broad range of education and interest serves as an expert “point man” to connect clients with the legal services that they need, in the most cost effective and personable manner possible.
